BIBLE VERSES : If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us. Psalm 124:1-2
LIFE POINT:
Psalm 124 is a song of thanksgiving written by David. It is a testimony of God’s divine intervention in the lives of His people. David reflects on the many dangers, battles, and enemies that surrounded Israel and acknowledges that their survival was not due to their strength, wisdom, or military power, but because the Lord was on their side.
Every believer has a testimony that can be summed up in these words: “If the Lord had not been on our side.”
Looking back over our lives, we can see countless situations where God’s hand preserved, protected, and delivered us.
The Lord Is Our Divine Protector. David recognized that enemies had risen against Israel. The reality of life is that opposition will come. Challenges, persecutions, disappointments, sicknesses, and spiritual battles are inevitable.
However, God stands as our protector. Isaiah 54:17
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper.”
When the enemy attacks, God defends His children. The reason many believers are still standing today is because the Lord has been their shield.
The Lord Delivers Us From Overwhelming Situations.
Psalm 124:3 says,
“Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us.”
There are situations that are beyond human ability. There are battles that money, education, influence, and connections cannot solve.
When Israel stood before the Red Sea, there seemed to be no escape. Yet God made a way where there was none. Exodus 14:13–14
“Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
God specializes in delivering His people from impossible situations.
The Lord Gives Us Victory Over Our Enemies.
The enemies of Israel wanted to destroy them, but God’s intervention turned defeat into victory.
Romans 8:31 says “If God be for us, who can be against us?”
The presence of God changes every battle. The enemy may be stronger, larger, and more experienced, but victory belongs to the Lord.
When God fights for His people, every giant falls.
The Lord Deserves All the Glory. David did not credit Israel’s survival to human effort. He gave all the glory to God.
Many times we celebrate our achievements without recognizing God’s hand behind them. Our jobs, businesses, families, ministries, and successes are sustained by His grace.
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory . Psalm 115:1
Child of God every testimony should point people back to God.
The testimony of every believer should be.
If the Lord had not been on our side, we would have been destroyed. If the Lord had not been on our side, we would have lost the battle. If the Lord had not been on our side, we would not be where we are today.
Therefore, let us trust Him completely, depend on Him continually, and give Him all the glory.
The God who protected us yesterday will protect us today and preserve us tomorrow. Only trust and obey the Lord!

PRAYERS:
1. Father, thank You for being on my side throughout my life.
2. Lord, deliver me from every battle that is beyond my strength.
3. Every trap of the enemy against my life, be destroyed in Jesus’ name.
4. Father, arise and fight every battle confronting my family.
5. Lord, let Your hand of protection rest upon me and my household.
6. Every plan of the enemy against my destiny shall fail in Jesus’ name.
7. Father, grant me victory in every area of my life.
8. Lord, let my life continually testify that You have been on my side.
9. May all the glory for my victories and testimonies return to You alone, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
