Bible verse: Without faith it is impossible to please God. Hebrew 11:6
LIFE POINT:
Faith is the currency of the Kingdom of God. Yet when we study Scripture, we discover that not all faith is described the same way. Jesus speaks about little faith, He marvels at great faith, and Scripture calls us to perfect (mature) faith.
Today, let us explore Little Faith, Great Faith and Perfect Faith, and understand how we grow from one to the other.
Little Faith :
In Matthew 8:26, when the storm arose, Jesus said to His disciples. Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?
The disciples had faith they followed Jesus. They had faith they believed in Him.
But their faith was overpowered by fear.
Characteristics of Little Faith. It focuses more on the storm than the Savior, it’s easily shaken by circumstances, it believes God but worries at the same time, trusts God on Sunday but panics on Monday. Little faith says,
Lord, I believe but what if this doesn’t work? Little faith is not absence of faith , it is immature faith.
Even Peter began to sink when he looked at the wind. Jesus said, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
When your eyes leave Jesus and fix on problems, faith shrinks.
Great Faith. In Matthew 8:10, Jesus said about the centurion. I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And What made his faith great? He understood authority, He believed Jesus did not need to be physically present, He trusted the Word alone.
Great faith says. Just speak the word, and it is done.
Another example is the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:28.
Jesus said to her, “O woman, great is your faith!”
Why because She refused to give up. She persisted despite rejection and She humbled herself.
Characteristics of Great Faith . Is persistent , Is humble, Trusts God’s Word without visible evidence. Refuses to quit. Great faith does not deny the problem, it magnifies God above the problem.
Perfect (Mature) Faith , does not mean sinless faith. It means complete, mature, fully developed faith.
James 2:22 says about Abraham. Faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect. And in James 1:4: Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Perfect faith, Has been tested. Has endured trials. It’s steady, not emotional. Obeys even when it hurts.
Abraham demonstrated perfect faith when he was ready to offer Isaac. He trusted God beyond logic.
He trusted God beyond emotion.
He trusted God beyond understanding.
Perfect faith says. Even if I don’t understand it, I trust You completely.
The Journey from Little to Great to Perfect can be described as this. Little faith panics in storms. Great faith stands firm in storms.
And Perfect faith sleeps in the boat like Jesus.
Child of God . Faith grows through Trials, Waiting, Obedience. Experience with God. Romans 10:17 tells us
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
The more you know Him, the more you trust Him.
How Do We Grow Our Faith? Stay in the Word. Pray consistently. Pray Act on what God says. Remember past victories.
Refuse to allow fear to dominate you.
Beloved of God ! Faith grows when it is exercised.
God is not looking for perfect circumstances.
He is looking for growing faith. If your faith is little bring it to Jesus. If your faith is great continue standing firm. If your faith is becoming perfect endure the process.
Because the goal is not just to have faith for miracles.
But to have faith that trusts God no matter what.
Hallelujah to the Lamb of God!
PRAYERS:
Lord let my faith grow from little , to great, and to perfect . In Jesus name Amen !
